OpenSearch Migration PPL

AWS OpenSearch SME

I help enterprises modernize from Splunk to OpenSearch with automated, low-risk migrations, and I partnered as a subject matter expert (SME) with AWS product and engineering to shape Piped Processing Language (PPL).

Enterprise Migrations (Splunk to OpenSearch)

I built a migration pipeline that extracts and normalizes Splunk data, bulk-loads it into OpenSearch, and validates integrity end to end. It converts dashboards and alerts while preserving queries and thresholds, with staged cutovers, real-time tracking, and zero data loss. My role focused on custom Search Processing Language (SPL) to PPL tooling, cost optimization guidance, and leading direct and hybrid migrations.

Partner Enablement: Migration Assistant for Amazon OpenSearch Service

I worked with OpenSearch leadership and engineering to scale the Migration Assistant for partners as a repeatable playbook. This included enabling partners on end-to-end migrations, refining playbooks and reference patterns, and running Q&A sessions and office hours to close feedback loops with engineering and prioritize field needs.

PPL Standardization & Advanced Query Enablement

I collaborated with the OpenSearch project and program owner to align PPL with real-world SPL workloads and adjacent analytics products. I helped evolve PPL into an enterprise-ready alternative to Splunk SPL, partnered with engineering to validate features and roadmap priorities, and produced guidance later adopted into AWS’s Service Pattern Library for field migrations.
